The agency is looking for suggestions on ways to use an Internet system that will reach every American to advance consumer welfare, civic participation and public safety.
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC), opened proceedings April 8th 09′¬† to discuss the creation of a national broadband Internet system that will reach every American.

The NEW National Broadband Plan is due to be presented to the U.S. Congress by Feb. 17, 2010.
The FCC is looking for comments on ways to keep costs manageable, effectively monitor the deployment of new infrastructure and, more expansively, “use broadband to advance consumer welfare, civic participation, public safety” and a slew of other national issues.
“Despite the recognition that high-speed Internet services are necessary, this is the first time a government agency will take a comprehensive look at the situation and recommend a course of action,” says Gigi Sohn, president of digital rights group Public Knowledge
OMG the stress release from living in George W. Bush’s backward or very selfish world is being lifted from The American People’s shoulders each and everyday.¬† It has been a very heavy burden, as most U.S. citizens know America has sat on it’s hands for the past 8 years.
Is the FCC looking at ways in which high-speed Internet can improve the economy, or is it finally recognizing that America needs better broadband utilization/speed/access to really compete in the world’s¬† globalization ?
