Twitter Break-in An Example of Too Much Personal Data Available

twitter birds

A hacker made off with confidential Twitter documents after breaking into an employee’s e-mail account, the company’s co-founder confirmed July 16th 2009.

Twitter co-founder Biz Stone, stated that a hacker calling himself Hacker Croll broke into an administrative assistant’s e-mail account, then used that to collect information that let him access the employee’s Google Apps account.

“This attack had nothing to do with any vulnerability in Google Apps, which we continue to use,” he said in a blog entry yesterday. “This is more about Twitter being in enough of a spotlight that folks who work here can become targets.

What this break-in does reveal very clearly…

Google Intent on Abolishing Microsoft OS Security Patch Shackle – World Rejoices

thumbs up to Google

Well, if it’s true that “ANYBODY” can and will free the obnoxious treadmill most PC users have been on trying to use the Microsoft(MS) operating system (OS)  XP, Vista & now Windows 7 – BRING IT ON NOW!!!

It has been this author’s (see below), belief that Microsoft has become a NATIONAL SECURITY THREAT to the world due to it’s archaic business model adopted by CEO Steve Ballmer. He should have never been CEO, but Bill Gates loyalty to friends got in the way. I say this because I know just the bandwidth consumed by Microsoft in it’s “security patches auto updates” is more than most 3rd world developing nation’s use in total. With that said – the world’s IT infrastructure is still vulnerable to cyber collapse at the hands of malicious hackers.

This is the unfortunate stark reality, no matter how the conservative business publications and blogs spin nauseatingly how great Microsoft is – they need desperately the Microsoft advertising revenue, as whores need the next John. No need to be ashamed, or even admit it to the many who already know the truth behind the headlines – just don’t dare continue the charade of hocus pocus free-market value over logic and common sense. Microsoft has lost it’s relevance – PERIOD !

IE Becoming Worthless – Microsoft Warns of Yet Another Serious Flaw

This “zero day” vulnerability affects Internet Explorer (IE), users whose computers run the Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 operating software and affects a part of IE used to play video. See the Zero Day Initiative Disclosure policy here. This vulnerability was discovered by Peter Vreugdenhil who informed Microsoft on January 26, 2009 and prompted Microsoft’s public announcement (Microsoft Security Bulletin MS09-019 – Critical), first on June 9, 2009.

Is this excessive lag time between when a security flaw is first discovered (usually by 3rd party sources like Zero Day Initiative), and the paying consumers becoming informed of the problem by large multi-national companies like Microsoft… much less the problem getting a legtimate fix – an issue of off-shore out-sourcing to places like India that does $84 Billion of IT outsourcing annually.
Some speculate that this equates to over $220 Billion in transferred U.S. dollars off-shore “annually” in the IT business sector alone…

sheep mentality

Thousands of random web sites have been hacked over the past week in which this malicious software that exploits the un-patched IE vulnerability has been setup by various hackers. Innocent people are then lured to these infected sites after clicking on a link in spam e-mail. Currently Mozilla’s popular Internet browser – Firefox is NOT affected.
