This entry is part 2 of 3 in the series John McCain

Does the United States now elect slackers who abuse their privilege of representing this nation by NOT fulfilling their duties in Congress, so they can run for higher office? Or do complacent voters just neglect these facts and further contribute to this compounded problem by simply turning their cheek the other way? Pretty disgusting if you ask me either way- that any U.S. Congressman or U.S. Senator has the impudence to “expect” from American citizens to respect them and their potential future leadership in higher office, when in turn they do NOT deserve the current Congressional seat they are occupying by not performing their existing Constitutional obligation… NOT consequential enough for complacent voters is anyone’s guess.

Yes, I am referring to John McCain not voting at all since April 8th, 2008, much less even showing up with token appearances in Congressional Chambers. John McCain also missed the Economic Stimulus package vote February 06, 2008 when he actually had a chance to stand up for America and help fix our ailing economy.

Has age caught up with John McCain, where he has to mask his campaign fatigue with some disappearing act, or is Lord John McCain above the blatant defiance of his Constitutional duties that mere mortals are accused of? Is that what $300 million of his wife Cindy Lou McCain’s inherited beer money buys - a position in political life that is exempt from anything critical… only scripted sound bites?

John McCain is far from being worthy, as he is NOT one who can any longer back up his rhetoric with decisive action. John McCain has missed more Senate votes than Tim Johnson, the Senator stricken December 2006 with a cerebral arteriovenous malformation that required emergency surgery in order to spare his life. Senator Johnson has made a remarkable recovery and has resumed his Senate duties and is even currently running for reelection. And John McCain’s excuse for his own excessive neglect of his Senate duties is ???

Farm Bill 2nd Veto Over-ride
Congress is moving toward enacting a $290 billion farm bill for a second time after clerical error in the first bill threatened delivery of U.S. food aid abroad.

The House on Wednesday voted by a 317-109 margin, a two-thirds majority, to override President Bush’s second veto of the legislation. The Senate is also expected to override the veto.

Most of the bill was enacted in May, when both the House and Senate easily overrode Bush’s first veto of the legislation. But 34 pages of the bill that would extend foreign aid programs were mistakenly missing from the parchment copy Congress sent the White House, so that section has not yet become law.
