This speech recognition process involves speaking at the same pace as most of your conversations and your spoken words are transcribed immediately onto your computer screen. Most of us can type 40-60 words per minute, but very good speech recognition applications can accurately turn 160-200 words per minute into text on your computer. | Our experience with voice recognition software clearly establishes a tried-and-true rule – get the best voice recognition software you can afford. The more expensive the voice recognition software the better it is in many ways. The very best voice recognition software will not only save you hours of frustration, but allow you to achieve the goal of hands-free usage with very few limitations. It is a fact that Nuance’s Dragon Naturally Speaking Professional version can achieve a 97-99% accuracy rating with adequate training. But this highly accurate voice recognition software also comes with a stringent minimum computer requirement that allows the software to perform properly. Of course Dragon Naturally speaking offers several versions, including specialized medical or law office application with complete lexicons of industry words and phrases, as well as document layout, formatting and footnotes etc for legal briefs etc. The affordable standard version of Dragon Naturally Speaking offers very good general application, but isn’t programmable, not usable on a data network environment for multiple user profiles or able to substitute word commands, like the Professional version. |

| Unfortunately, there is no shortcut one can take to get around the minimum computer performance hardware requirements of Dragon Naturally Speaking Professional version, as the results will at a minimum frustrate the user with an unacceptable lag time dictating words, as well as providing a word recognition accuracy so poor that the voice recognition software value will be almost absent as a useful adaptability tool. Some computers require upgrades to be compatible with Dragon Naturally Speaking. | ||||||||
