Virus & malware prevention & removal generically include spyware, rootkits, packet sniffer detection, network scanning/monitoring, worms, trojan horses, adware, rogue software and malicious computer hacking.
Early warning signs indicating that your computer has been compromised include lack of adequate & current virus & spyware detection software. Popups that can’t be disabled. A significant slowdown of the computer including program(s) startup & operation and/or Internet connectivity speed issues. Other virus/malware clues could be the computer hard drive running out of free space mysteriously, erratic mouse operation, security website(s) Internet connection prevention and mysterious file folders that appear out of nowhere and that prevent access.
Our evaluation/assessment of your computer is the first step to determine if it is financially justified in search/removal of suspected computer infections or if a security wipe of your hard drive is prudent. The reality is that it comes down to time and money based on years of experience of doing this exact type of evaluation of computers large and small (including laptops).

An accurate declaration of the existing computer problem(s) by the customer & our interview of customer’s typical computer habits also factor into the security wipe vs. search/removal scenario. The initial cost for our computer diagnostic service time is 1 hour billable (non-refundable), of actual tech time evaluating computer and excludes any time interviewing consumer of computer problems etc. It may be determined through the 1 hour diagnostic service that the search/removal of any computer infection(s) is prudent and can be accomplished within that initial 1 hour diagnostic service time, in which no other costs will be incurred. Any proprietary software installed with signed customer approval is charged additional at pre-negoiated cost. |
Network issues are excluded from our typical 1 hour diagnostic computer service as vulnerability assessment in a network environment involve many more discovery issues and become more complicated as no two network environments are the same. Since more evaluation is required and in most cases hard drive security wipes are NOT an option unless under extreme circumstances etc, any network accessment is billed at hourly rate.
